However, while the character arcs change with progress from storyline to storyline, and each season turns into a new mystery, fans seem to have voted their favorite season in True Detective. As per reports, keeping in mind the incredible highs, as well as the disappointing lows, True Detective season 4 surprisingly beat Matthew McConaughey’s season 1.

Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson’s True Detective Debut

The 2014 drama series True Detective which incorporated unconventional cults and philosophies into its story of abuse and murder, featured the world-renowned faces, Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in their gripping first season. With the duo making their way into the entertaining yet inconsistent show, they turned the S1 of the drama series into the pinnacle of the anthology.

Blending the mystery of each episode with compelling characters and well-paced storytelling, True Detective S1 soon turned into the best and most highly appreciated show. With repeated viewings, fans even started unearthing new mysteries and different layers of meanings. But, as the show proceeded with the next seasons, it somehow failed to maintain the same impact as Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson’s first season did.

True Detective Season 4 Beat Matthew McConaughey’s Season 1

Bringing in haunting visuals with a blend of spiritual meaning, True Detective came up with three more seasons after Matthew McConaughey’s gripping original. However, with each passing season, the show struggled with overly ambitious flashback sequences and storytelling. Somehow, fans witnessed a downfall in quality, after S1, which led to disappointing lows in the show.
