Jada Pinkett Smith is opening up about The Slap over a year after the infamous incident took place at the 2022 Oscars. During a recent interview, the actress shared that it took her a moment to realize that everything was happening for real and was not staged.
It has been followed by Pinkett Smith opening up about how she really felt being mocked in Chris Rock’s Netflix Special, where the comedian addressed The Slap and playfully addressed her complex relationship with Will Smith, saying that she felt hurt by those comments.
Jada Pinkett Smith Was Hurt by Chris Rock’s Netflix Special
During a recent interview with The New York Times, Jada Pinkett Smith shared that she felt heartbroken after being mocked by the comedian Chris Rock in his Netflix special. She shared that although she was hurt by his comments, she wished him well. The 52-year-old actress said,
“I remember my heart piercing, my heart cracking, and I remember my feelings being so hurt. And then I remember being able to smile and wish him well at the same time.”
She also addressed being blamed for the incident, as many suggested that it was her eye roll on Rock’s joke that led to Will Smith’s outburst at the 2022 Oscars. “Blaming the woman is nothing new,” The Matrix star said.
In his Netflix special, Chris Rock: Selective Outrage, the comedian addressed the infamous incident and took a shot at Will Smith and his wife’s relationship. He also went on to mock the couple’s Red Table Talk episode, where The Nutty Professor actress admitted to having an affair.
Chris Rock Asked Jada Pinkett Smith Out On a Date
In her memoir Worthy, Jada Pinkett Smith has made some intense revelations. One of these also includes that the comedian Chris Rock once asked her out on a date after rumors of her and Will Smith’s split started circulating.
“I think every summer all the reports would come out that me and Will were getting a divorce,” she said as she explained that one particular summer, Rock believed them and called her. She recalled during an interview with People,
“He was like, ‘I’d love to take you out.’ And I was like, ‘What do you mean?’ He was like, ‘Well, aren’t you and Will getting a divorce?’ I was like, ‘No. Chris, those are just rumors.'”
Rock later apologized for the confusion. Pinkett Smith also shared that the Spiral star also apologized to her for joking about her shaved head during a pause in the broadcast at the Oscar ceremony. But they have not talked since the 94th Academy Awards.
