Jeremy Renner has taken on some action-heavy roles in his career. His roles in the Mission Impossible franchise, the MCU, and the Bourne franchise required him to do some heavy-duty action sequences that were physically taxing. Following his recovery from his accident last year, he believes that his body would not be able to handle those anymore.

In an appearance on the Smartless podcast, Renner stated that he does not have the energy/fuel to do physically demanding stuff, as it takes a lot of time to prepare for those scenes. The actor wants to have positive thoughts from now on and not put any kind of stress on his body. He said,

I just don’t have the energy for it. I don’t have the fuel. I have so much fuel to put into this reality, this body, all this stuff. I can’t just go play make-believe right now. Because that takes a lot of time to get right here every day just so I can have a positive thought, so I can progress, so I can always keep growing.

It will be interesting to see Renner pick up more dramatic roles as he reduces participating in action-heavy films. He is now starring in season 3 of Mayor of Kingstown which is airing weekly on Paramount+. The actor was recently cast in the third Knives Out film which is currently shooting. It will be released on Netflix in 2025.
