Following Rian Johnson’s critically acclaimed Knives Out, which comprised a plethora of high-profile stars, Daniel Craig was easily the main attraction of the movie, thanks to his magnetic charm. However, his presence didn’t undermine the rest of the cast, including Jamie Lee Curtis, Ana de Armas, Chris Evans, etc, who doesn’t fail to deliver on the occasion, especially Ana de Armas.
However, working on the movie alongside the Blade Runner star wasn’t easy for Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis, as she would be embarrassed about herself after making early assumptions about the actress.
Jamie Lee Curtis was embarrassed for assuming Ana de Armas was inexperienced
While reflecting on her experience working on Rian Johnson’s Knives Out, Jamie Lee Curtis opened up about how she felt embarrassed for assuming Ana de Armas was an inexperienced actress. Considering that Curtis was unaware of her work in several critically acclaimed projects, including Blade Runner 2049, she assumed that the young Cuban actress was new to the realm of Hollywood. But it couldn’t be further from the truth, as after they started working together, Curtis was mesmerized by the actress’ performance and was deeply embarrassed. Curtis said,
“I assumed, and I say this with real embarrassment because she had come from Cuba, that she had just arrived. I made an assumption that she was an inexperienced, unsophisticated young woman, That first day, I was like, ‘Oh, what are your dreams?’”
But despite not being able to recognize the actress’ true potential at first glance, Jamie Lee Curtis explained that she remained in awe after witnessing the actress’ potential and her personality. Despite being a highly decorated star at a pretty young age, the Everything Everywhere All at Once star explained that the Blonde star was always looking forward to expanding her boundaries.
Ana de Armas is always curious about learning according to Jamie Lee Curtis
Ever since their time together on the sets of Knives Out, both Jamie Lee Curtis and Ana de Armas have maintained a close bond, with the Knock Knock star not shying away from taking advice from Curtis. The True Lies star further expressed that despite being a highly gifted star, de Armas doesn’t shy away from hardships and is always curious about learning from others. Curtis said,
“She is not as fancy as maybe the advertisements would have you believe. She leans in, interested; talking to her is kind of give-and-take. She’s curious and asks a lot of questions.”
Following Ana de Armas’ extreme talent, Jamie Lee Curtis also revealed that she wanted to introduce the Blonde star to Steven Spielberg for his movie West Side Story. Even though the role ended up going to Rachel Zegler, this didn’t stop Ana de Armas from climbing the ladder to the top and garnered an Oscar nomination for Best Actress for her performance in Blonde.
