Henry Cavill Was More Geralt Than Himself

During an interview, Henry Cavill admitted that his experience working on set for The Witcher had led him to be more Geralt than himself. During those eight months of his life, the actor saw the silver flying wisps of hair on his face more than his floppy dark hair. He would wake up, sleep and eat as Geralt with his sword hanging by his side more often than the actor would like to admit.

Cavill even admitted that the sight of him normally would shock him because of how used he was to seeing Geralt when he looked in the mirror. He even confirmed that the wrap party was starting right as they were finishing filming. It usually took over two hours to get the actor ready as the lead character so he was used to sitting around in heavy gear. This became such normalcy for him that Cavill was ready to sit in the car and go to the party without even bothering to change into his own clothes.

The bath scene in the first season of the show stands to be iconic because it is accurate to both the books and the games. Cavill tried his best to live up to what the sources had set up for him. He even managed to nail his voice as accurately as possible. The actor tried making it as raspy and ancient without getting it to sound cartoonish and he did an amazing job with that.

The Witcher’s third season will be streaming on Netflix in the summer of 2023.
