However, despite his superstardom, the actor revealed that he had his biggest fan moment when he met the singer and pop star Prince in Las Vegas. However, the actor felt that he messed up the meeting when the singer refused to take a photo with him.

Actor Jamie Foxx has been in the industry for over thirty years and has donned many hats. Starting out as a stand-up comic, he quickly gained notoriety for starring in the sketch comedy show In Living Color. He later received his own sitcom called The Jamie Foxx Show which ran for five seasons. The actor had his breakthrough role in Michael Mann’s Ali, where he starred along with Will Smith.

Apart from being an Academy Award-winning actor, Jamie Foxx is also an R&B singer and has produced five albums. He has also collaborated with the likes of Kanye West, Ludacris, and T.I. His album Unpredictable was certified double platinum and was also nominated for a Grammy. His song Blame It from his album Intuition won the Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance By a Duo or Group with Vocals.

Foxx also used his amazing singing abilities in the Ray Charles biopic Ray. The actor played the legendary singer and won the Best Actor Oscar that year. He was also nominated for Collateral the same year. He also won the BET award with Kanye West for his song Gold Digger.

Jamie Foxx mentioned in The Howard Stern Show that he was a huge fan of Prince. Talking about how he used to worship the pop star as a child, he mentioned that he used to be questioned about his choice to listen to the singer by his grandma who did not approve of his overly sexualized songs. Foxx said,

“[Prince’s death] hit me really hard. Not only did I know him, but I musically worshipped him. When I was a kid, I would listen to his music and my grandmother did not understand. [She said] ‘What’s this devil meant singing about p**sy?’…I remember listening to his song ‘Soft and Wet’ for the first time.”

The actor reportedly also met Prince at a New Year’s party in Las Vegas in 1998 and had a fanboy moment with the star. Foxx said that he was overwhelmed with emotion when he saw Prince and almost started crying. But apparently, the star did not agree to take a picture with the actor despite him requesting one. Foxx mentioned,

“I met him in December 1998…I was like a fan saying, ‘Man, I know that ain’t Prince over there.’…I started kind of crying…And he was so cool, he knew I was shook. I was like, ‘Damn, the motherfu*ker is so cool’…I remember asking for a picture. I fu*ked up. [He said no] Yeah, it was a disposable camera and he said, ‘I don’t do those’.”

Prince was known for not taking pictures with fans or being clicked without his permission. Prince was one of the most successful American singers and is often regarded as one of the greatest musicians of all time. He passed away in 2016.
