“That says a lot about where we are in this world and in the world of superheroes.”

She showed her gratitude to the Marvel franchise for introducing the Black Panther hero as she stated,

“I am so grateful to Marvel because about five years ago, my son asked me if there were any brown legos. And I said, ‘Yes there are.’ And I got a sharpie and I turned Spider-Man brown and I turned the LEGOs brown and I don’t have to turn them brown anymore.”

Despite the fact that she loves superheroes and is grateful to Marvel for giving her someone her kids can look up to, she once refused to accept a superhero role.

“It was kind of not in the place [my son] felt I should be. He was actually right. I saw it when it came out and I said, ‘That’s unfortunate.’ It came out and everything. He was like six when he asked me not to do it, and I said, ‘Okay.’”
