During the special (via ABC News), the television host recalled one of the most famous moments of the internet when she rolled out a wheel of fat weighing roughly 67 pounds. This was done to show the world the amount of fat Winfrey had lost by staying strictly on a liquid diet.

“In an effort to combat all the shame, I starved myself for nearly five months and then wheeled out that wagon of fat that the internet will never forget. After losing 67 pounds on a liquid diet, the next day, the very next day, I started to gain it back. Feeling the shame of fighting a losing battle with weight, is a story all too familiar,”

Taking the terminology, Oprah Winfrey had some controversial things to say about obesity in her TV special. During her talks, Winfrey revealed that obesity cannot be helped through willpower since it’s a “disease” and it’s about the brain!

“I had the biggest ‘aha’ along with many people in that audience. I realized I’d been blaming myself all these years for being overweight, and I have a predisposition that no amount of willpower is going to control. Obesity is a disease. It’s not about willpower — it’s about the brain.”
