Jennifer Lopez revealed in an interview recently that the Spanish skills her husband Ben Affleck possesses even make her self-conscious. Lopez is all set for her movie The Mother to be released on Netflix in a few days. And obviously with the promotion in full bloom questions about her now husband and once almost husband about 20 years ago keep popping up.
In the recent interview she attended with her co-star Lucy Paez, who also happens to be from Latin America, they talked at length about their Spanish skills and J.Lo revealed something about Affleck that was quite pleasantly surprising for a lot of fans.

As both Jennifer Lopez and her co-star and daughter in the movie Lucy Paez happen to share Latin American ethnicity their bonding seems to go beyond onscreen. Not only that, but Paez being a much younger actress, Lopez tried to make sure she was comfortable and prepared for the movie.
As Paez revealed that the Anaconda star tried to intimidate her during the initial audition to make sure she can handle certain parts of the shooting as they would involve high-intensity stunts and even overwhelming emotions. However, she passed the test successfully and as a result, Jennifer Lopez completely took her under the wing.
As Lopez quite fittingly noted while talking about the movie, “I’m a killer, but I’m also a mother.” In fact, the pop star revealed that the movie, in fact,t helped her think and reconnect deeply with her real-life role as a mother.
So all in all, it was a great experience for both of them even with all the crying and screaming people will allegedly witness when the movie hits the streaming platform.
However, with two stars of Latin American ethnicity present, questions about their connection to their culture are inevitable. Surprisingly, though, Jennifer Lopez revealed that her husband Ben Affleck’s Spanish skills far surpass her own and even leave her quite awestruck from time to time.

Jennifer Lopez married Ben Affleck last year to the rejoicing of a lot of fans. However, this is not the first time the couple wanted to say their I dos to each other. Incidentally, they were together about twenty years ago and were even well on their way to complete the nuptials.
Although the wedding was allegedly called off just two days before the ceremony, Affleck remained, Lopez’s ‘The one that got away’ until they finally tied the knot in 2022.
The couple thankfully seem to be extremely well, and Lopez hadn’t stopped gushing about her husband ever since. In the recent interview, she revealed that Ben Affleck speaks, “Really great Spanish.”
She noted, “I get very self-conscious because I didn’t grow up in Puerto Rico, you know what I mean?” adding, “I speak Spanish, and I know Spanish. I know Spanish well, but I still get self-conscious – not him!”
Interestingly, Affleck’s Spanish skills are one of the reasons Lopez’s mother has always been charmed by him even back 20 years ago. The reason behind Batfleck’s exceptional Spanish skills is also quite charming, to be honest. As Jennifer Lopez revealed,
“He spent time in Mexico when he was a kid, and so, he loves the culture, and he loves the people, and he loves speaking Spanish.”
This is something Ben Affleck has always been openly proud of. And his fluency became apparent in a video of an interview he had with a Spanish radio station called La Cardena SER during his Air press tour.

The video went viral on TikTok quickly with millions of viewers’ hearts being touched. However, the Oscar winner also claimed proudly that even his fluency is put to shame in front of his daughter. He gushed about how she had always been a good student and quite interested in Spanish and so he used to help her.
However, “She’s gotten into the grade where she’s, like, in the harder Spanish classes, and she’s getting better. She’s right at the point where I think she might be passing me,” he added quite proudly.
The Mother will be available on Netflix on May 12th, 2023.
