“I can say it now, ’cause we’re closed. This is really gross, what I’m gonna tell you guys. I threw up. I threw up and I swallowed it. And no one knew! I was kinda, like, sobbing and I leaned over and it happened. I had to kiss someone! Yes! It was a nightmare and I couldn’t explain.”

As the actor was performing on stage for the Broadway revival of A Doll’s House, she was unable to warn her co-actor about her sudden bout of nausea prior to their on-stage kiss.

“I read it, and I was deeply disturbed. [Tammy] was just kind of sitting there. People were creating stuff so she could be caught rather than her making decisions.”

After Chastain’s refusal, this plot was finally removed. The actress worked with the writers to change the scene.
