Bruce Willis has been at the center of Hollywood attention after the actor’s aphasia diagnosis rendered him almost as infamous in the audience’s minds as his role in the Die Hard franchise did. The actor has, over the years, cemented his place in the industry with a good chunk of action roles spread out evenly over the decades. And with the premiere of each of these action projects, Willis has only become increasingly favored among the masses.

These same statements, when applied to Arnold Schwarzenegger, resonates with the same frequency, especially since the Austrian has enjoyed a far greater period of success in the industry than the Unbreakable actor.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Wishes To Team Up With Bruce Willis

The Governator has remained at the forefront of the greatest action movies of all time ever since he stepped onto the silver screen with his malevolent robotic Terminator in James Cameron’s eponymous movie in 1984. The genre of sci-fi action thrillers was forever redefined by what the director and actor then presented on the screen. A few years later, Bruce Willis would do the same with the greatly beloved “Christmas” movie, Die Hard in 1988, which went on to spawn a string of sequels and catapult the actor into the limelight of the ever-demanding action-thriller industry.

The pair had become so enmeshed in their inherent identities as badass protagonists of high-stakes adrenaline-fueled films that the success of a film was no longer contingent upon the variety of plots in their never-ending Terminator and Die Hard sequels. Their names alone were enough to sell out entire theatres. As such, a team-up of two of the greatest action movie stars of the past half-century would be a sight to behold, and it would be remiss to not exploit the ingenuity of having them take down the on-screen big bad together.

The Expendables franchise, launched by Sylvester Stallone, attempted to do just that with the added bonus of having all the great action stars, including Jean-Claude Van Damme, Jet Li, and Jason Statham, and the success was astounding. However, as impossible as an ensemble movie such as The Expendables may sound, the franchise is still spinning out storylines worthy of follow-up sequels insomuch that Arnie may well be attempting to reverse Willis’ exit from Hollywood following his dementia diagnosis.

The Expendables 4: The Team Comes Together One Last Time

With a franchise as grand as The Expendables, it is hardly acceptable for the team to go out swinging without all of its components coming together for the grand finale. The dramatic battle of words and emotions played out over social media between Vin Diesel and The Rock is proof of how one cast member’s exit can adversely affect the entire production in its final saga. However, for the Expendables family, the matter is more grave than hurt emotions or differences in opinions.

Bruce Willis is retired from Hollywood and is battling his terminal diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia. As such, a return to the acting scenario is now completely out of the picture with reports of the actor forgetting his dialogues in his final few films making quite the buzz among the audience. Assassin is now the last movie that Bruce Willis will star in and yet, Arnold Schwarzenegger holds out hope for his return in Expendables 4. And yet, he also expresses concern over the fact that Willis’ memory, which is about to begin deteriorating, has kept him separate from the rest of the world: “I think Bruce is very secluded, but I haven’t had a chance to talk to him yet.”

Demi Moore, Willis’ former wife, has inspired an immense magnitude of kindness and generosity by lending a helping hand to Willis and his family. The actress has also organized multiple get-togethers with the actor’s former co-stars in the industry to keep his mind sharp and prevent his memories from fading. Such care on Moore’s part further makes one wish that the actor might finally grace the high-profile Expendables cast with a short cameo in its final run on the big screen.

The Expendables 4 is set to premiere on September 22, 2023.
