The 29th Annual Critics Choice Awards took place on Sunday, January 14, 2024, in Los Angeles. It was almost a repeat of the Golden Globes Awards held last week, with almost the same actors, directors, films, and TV series picking up top honors.
Oppenheimer has won big at this year’s Critics Choice Awards, just like the GG Awards, taking home eight gongs. Even though its count exceeded that of the Golden Globes Ceremony, Cillian Murphy missed out on receiving the award for Best Actor this time. He lost the award to Paul Giamatti, who won for The Holdovers.
It, however, didn’t seem to bother his fans. As his sweet conversation with Succession star Kieran Culkin (who won Best Actor in a Drama Series) had already won the hearts of many.
Cillian Murphy and Kieran Culkin’s Sweet Encounter at Critics Choice Award
Actor Cillian Murphy is notoriously private about his personal life. Despite his reserved nature, he’s a total gentleman whenever he meets someone.
Recently, he was seen engaging in a gentle conversation with Succession star Kieran Culkin at the 29th Critics Choice Awards—a moment that fans loved to see. Check out the video of Murphy and Culkin’s encounter:

So, despite not winning, the Peaky Blinders star looked super chill, enjoying the ceremony, cheering, laughing, and having sweet moments with other actors.
He rocked the red carpet as he donned a three-piece suit and a loosely fitted tie—looking like a walking, talking definition of suavity.
Not only with Culkin, the Oppenheimer star also seemed to have sweet moments with his co-stars Emily Blunt and Robert Downey Jr.
Cillian Murphy’s Adorable Moments With Co-stars Robert Downey Jr. and Emily Blunt
Social media is buzzing with adorable moments between Robert Downey Jr. and Murphy from the Critics Choice Award night. Portraying Lewis Strauss in Oppenheimer, RDJ clinched the Best Supporting Actor award. Though when Murphy lost to The Holdovers’ star, Downey Jr gave him a brotherly hug.
The Irish actor also shared a hug with his on-screen wife, Emily Blunt, when she was on stage to collect the award for the best ensemble on behalf of the cast. She thanked Nolan for his “ability to connect with actors.” She continued (via Yahoo News):
“I love that we’re calling this an ensemble and we’re very grateful, but most of us were part-timers that gathered around this completely riveting fire of Cillian Murphy. Truly.”
Blunt was also nominated for Supporting Actress but lost to Da’Vine Joy Randolph of The Holdovers.
