Brie Larson has been a terrific actress for as long as the memory goes. For a charmer who swiftly shifts between genres like it’s no big deal, the Captain Marvel star’s performance on-screen is far too realistic to claim she’s not in character. And with her talents and skills, she has managed to bag several titular roles in superhit movies and franchises, including the MCU.

But while her success with the Marvel Cinematic Universe was a big triumph widely known to everyone, her bizarre reason behind hesitating to join the franchise in the first place isn’t something fans are aware of.

Brie Larson has always performed beautifully on the big screens, regardless of what role she was offered. But despite being an actress with such a tremendous record, Larson was hesitant when offered to join the $29 billion worth MCU franchise.

Explaining what scared her while contemplating whether to go for it and make the important decision of becoming a part of the massive franchise or not, the Room star said,

“I was scared of what would happen to me. I was like, ‘What world is this, where these are the choices I have to make as an artist.’ What I always come back to is, I have to live with myself in a way that nobody else has to. The choices I make, I have to live with, whether I regret them or not. Artistically, I always understood that.”

Furthermore, the pressure of playing a new female lead character in a solo movie from the franchise that would be led by a woman scared her.

“You can follow me around on set and be like, ‘Wow, she really knows what she’s doing.’ And then I go home, and I’m like, ‘I don’t know what I’m doing’. I get insecure, and I think I’m not enough.”

Nonetheless, after much scrutiny, Brie Larson finally decided to join the MCU, and thank God she did, for no one could’ve portrayed the character of Carol Danvers AKA Captain Marvel better than her.

Before getting the offer of being cast in the Marvel franchise, fans would be surprised to know that Brie Larson wasn’t an underdog either. On a hot streak with her superhit movies like Room (2015), The Glass Castle (2017), and Kong: Skull Island (2017), Larson was nothing less than a popular hotshot in the industry at the time.

So much so that she even managed to bag her first-ever Oscar for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role after her outstanding performance in Room. But jumping from such small-scope movies to suddenly multi-billionaire franchises like the MCU was quite the leap for Larson, and she wasn’t sure if she wanted to take it.

Nevertheless, making it look easy, the Free Fire actress leaped and performed so finely that her cosmic-hero character got the chance to be there in several other installments of the franchise as well, including her most recent widely-awaited upcoming project, The Marvels.
