The two were in a relationship for around three years but decided to go their separate ways in August 2022. Braff, who always wanted to write something for the Little Women star, did so during the 2020 lockdown. According to Pugh, she was not allowed to take a look at the script or the character that was being written for her.

Pugh shared that she prefers portraying “intense roles,” and this is the reason she is grateful for a character that is written specifically for her. “I wouldn’t necessarily think that’s a bad thing. I think if anything, it means that he could believe that I could do it,” she said. Saying that she loves “being raw,” so she would have found it strange if her ex wrote a “Nancy Meyers thing” for her.
