While it may have been almost a decade and a half since the last film in the iconic Harry Potter franchise was released for the big screen, the legacy of the cinematic experiences as well as the literary excellence achieved by author J.K. Rowling will always be dearly remembered by the fans.
Even though many who grew up watching the movies or reading books may now be full-fledged adults, they still haven’t forgotten their experiences with these pieces of popular culture.
However, according to film industry veteran Miriam Margolyes, the adults who still love either the films or the books should move on from them. In a recent interview, she claimed that the creative property is primarily for kids, which is why adults should move on from them and look for something else.

Despite being the star who brought to life one of the most loveable and memorable characters of Professor Sprout in the iconic Harry Potter franchise by Warner Bros., it seems like English actor Miriam Margolyes doesn’t think too highly of the massive fandom that it created.
In fact, she seems to have some issues with the adults who are big fans of the series to this day, saying that they should’ve moved on from the Daniel Radcliffe-led series a long time ago.
In a recent interview with 1News, the Blackadder actress talked about her role in the series authored by J.K. Rowling, where she opened up about her thoughts on the adults who are fans of the series. She claimed that these people are too fixated on the franchise, so much so that it trickles down into their personal daily lives, which is concerning. She said:
“They should be over that by now, you know, I mean, it was 25 years ago, and it’s for children. I think it’s for children. They get stuck in it, I do Cameos, and people say, ‘Oh, we’re having a “Harry Potter”-themed wedding,’ and I think, ‘Gosh, what’s their first night of fun going to be?’ I can’t even think about it. No.”
As you may have already guessed, this didn’t bode well with the millions of fans across the globe as well as with her co-stars, among whom Jessie Cave was vocal about it.
Jessie Cave Has Some Things To Say About Miriam Margolyes’ Comments
Recently, at a Harry Potter fan convention in Paris (via Fr Conventions) alongside seven other cast members, Jessie Cave, who played the role of Lavender Brown, was asked what her thoughts were about Margolyes’ comment on older fans still being attached to the franchise.
Commenting on this, she said that it’s quite unfortunate what she heard, also adding that she might not understand just how it all works and what the films meant for the fans, saying:
“I think it’s terrible. I really don’t like that she said that. It’s such an amazing thing that Harry Potter has done. It’s created a fan base that has aged and is still bonded through it, and it’s passed on to younger generations, and that’s what is so amazing. She probably just doesn’t understand that or get that. Just let her be. I think this situation is very unusual,”
It may be hard for Margolyes to understand just what an impression this series has left in the hearts of the fans for them to love it with their all to this day.
