However, Elordi, who portrayed Noah Flynn in the series, has labeled the movies as “ridiculous,” stating that they served as a mere “escape.”
His co-star, Joey King, has responded to his criticism of movies in a recent interview, as she shared that she had a great experience working on them.
Joey King Responds to Jacob Elordi’s Criticism of The Kissing Booth
Jacob Elordi, known for starring in the hit HBO drama Euphoria and critically acclaimed films like Priscilla and Saltburn, has shared that he is not too proud of his initial work. During a recent interview with GQ, the actor shared his despise for The Kissing Booth movies that made him a teen heartthrob.
“I didn’t want to make those movies before I made those movies,” the 26-year-old actor said before adding, “Those movies are ridiculous. They’re not universal. They’re an escape.” However, his co-stars, Joey King and Taylor Zakhar Perez, do not have the same thoughts as him.
King, who starred alongside Elordi in the film series, responded to the criticism at the Balenciaga fashion show in Los Angeles. In a conversation with Variety, the Bullet Train actress said, “I think it’s unfortunate anyone would feel that way.”
She further stated that she had “a great time making those movies” and her opinion would remain the same “no matter what anyone says.” Taylor Zakhar Perez, who portrayed Marco Valentin Peña in The Kissing Booth sequels, has also reacted to Elordi’s comments on the movies.

Taylor Zakhar Perez Had a Wonderful Experience Starring in The Kissing Booth
Taylor Zakhar Perez joined the cast of The Kissing Booth film series in its sequels as Marco Valentin Peña. Talking about Jacob Elordi’s comments on the Netflix trilogy, the actor said, “It’s a shame that was his experience on the set.” He also stated that he believed that everyone “had such a wonderful experience” working on those movies.
The actor reflected on how The Kissing Booth helped them gain recognition among the audience. “Especially when those movies came out, it was a time when we really needed something like that,” he said before adding, “I know from our fan interactions, getting stopped everywhere I go.”
Based on Beth Reekles’ novel series of the same name, The Kissing Booth features Jacob Elordi as Elle Evans’ (Joey King) love interest. The story revolves around Elle navigating the complexities of romance and friendship dynamics, all set against the backdrop of a school kissing booth.
