And now he is back at the box office in Lee Isaac Chung’s Twisters, a sequel to 1996’s Twister. Having established a successful career now, with plenty of popular roles in his bag, Powell is determined not to make one mistake that could potentially tank his career.

Glen Powell might have gotten recognition with his Netflix film, Set it Up, but it was Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick that truly brought him to the limelight. Ever since his tryst with fighter pilots, the actor has gone on to star in some of the best films of recent years. Having cooked up a storm with his chemistry with Sydney Sweeney in Anyone But You, the actor co-wrote his Netflix hit, Hit Man.

He is now back on the silver screen with a standalone sequel to the 1996 film, Twister, called Twisters! Another potential hit, which debuted with largely positive reviews, Powell has proven his might as an actor and his appeal as a box office draw. Now on the threshold of being counted among Hollywood giants, Powell is not keen on making one mistake that could ruin all that he has achieved so far: making more remakes.

In his latest interview with IndieWire, while talking about starring in a potential Smokey and the Bandit remake, the actor remarked,

I get only so many reboot or revisits of certain worlds! I don’t think ‘Smokey and the Bandit’ is on that list. I think that will go untouched. But I will say that’s a massive compliment.

And the actor is not in his judgment to not star in any more reboots or revisits for he already has two upcoming films that can well be termed as reboots: Huntington aka John Patton Ford’s take on the 1949 classic Kind Hearts and Coronets (via Deadline), and Edgar Wright’s The Running Man remake (via Variety).

Despite having all the hallmarks of what fans would say ‘the classic Hollywood leading man’, it sure is better for Powell to stay away from reboots and focus on more original projects and features.

Glen Powell Knows Where He is Going!

While the list of Glen Powell’s projects might not be filled with reboots or revisits of iconic worlds, the actor knows that any more such projects will potentially end up tainting the career he has worked so hard to build from the ground up. While he is also apprehensive of the rapid success he has achieved in the last few years, Powell remains choosy and calculated, knowing exactly where he needs to go.

As his Scream Queens boss puts it in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Anyone But You star seems to always know what he needs to do next. And doing any more reboots is what Powell knows he must not do for the sake of his career, for no actor would want to remain confined by roles or worlds that have already been defined by others.

While in his interview with IndieWire, the actor showed aversion to more reboots, the actor during his talk with THR revealed that he had let go of projects like a Bourne Identity update and a Jurassic Park reboot. These decisions not only reflect Powell’s determination to avoid getting ‘typecast’ but also the deep sensitivity and understanding he has about how to succeed in an industry as vast and as complex as Hollywood.

Potentially wanting a career that emphasizes creative integrity, artistic fulfillment, and risk-taking, Glen Powell does seem to know where he is going and his fans are here for the ride!
