Riveting as his performance as the Prince of the Targaryen dynasty may have been, however, Mitchell nearly gave his mother a metaphorical heart attack thanks to the latest HotD season.

Ewan Mitchell’s Mom Was Horrified While Watching HotD 2

Game of Thrones is nothing if not a goldmine of cynicism and obscenity, and honestly, that’s part of its allure. It makes perfect sense then, why its fabled successor, House of the Dragon, would be just as bleak and salacious, if not more. If only Ewan Mitchell‘s mother knew that.

During an appearance on BBC Radio 4, Mitchell, who plays Aemond Targaryen – one of the major antagonists in the spinoff – revealed how his mother was rendered absolutely aghast while watching the brothel scene in ‘The Burning Mill’ which features a full-frontal of the English actor.

It doesn’t help that he kept the poor lady in the dark about the scandalous nude sequence when they sat down to watch the episode in the latest season.

I kept it a secret…Yeah, I think the neighbors heard her scream, and it reverberated through the foundations of the house.

Yikes. Hey, Mrs. Mitchell, do you need a vat of holy water to scrub your eyes?

But There’s A Silver Lining

Does it count that her son felt safe while filming the scene?

In a conversation with Jonatan Blomberg, the 27-year-old World on Fire star admitted that contrary to popular belief, he didn’t feel uncomfortable during the scene that required him to strip from head to toe. If anything, he felt secure, and “liberating,” even.

We had an intimacy coordinator. Like I was saying before, you just feel really protected…It’s actually kind of liberating, in a weird kind of way…I don’t know, it’s so encoded in Aemond’s DNA to be so…free, and to keep the audience on the toes […] he shocks the audience.

Well, Mitchell’s certainly right about the “shock[ing] the audience” part. Just ask his mother.
