As the release date for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 grows nearer, the anticipation for the game grows ever larger. After all, it is undoubtedly one of the more critical game releases for both Activision-Blizzard and Xbox.
However, ever since the first trailer came out, there has been some discussion on the game’s single-player direction. People have noticed that the potential cast for the game is larger than even 2022’s Modern Warfare 2 and wonder whether Treyarch may get crushed under the weight of managing them all.
Black Ops 6 Is Drawing Some Unsavory Comparisons to the MCU
In the past few years since the release of Modern Warfare 2019, Call of Duty‘s writing for the single-player campaigns has been a significant point of debate for the community, as the developers over at Treyarch and Sledgehammer seem extremely inconsistent with it.
So, despite all that Black Ops 6 has seemingly going for it, people remain somewhat dicey about the game’s single-player campaign, with many wondering whether every returning and new character will get proper treatment or not, given the massive size of the game’s enormous cast.
Given how Treyarch pulled something similar off with Modern Warfare 2, some continue to believe in the team’s ability to manage it perfectly.
That said, though, perhaps the most interesting bit is how many worry that Black Ops 6 will share the same fate as today’s MCU. Given how, in a post-Endgame world, Disney and Marvel struggle with their increasingly large cast of characters and do their respective cinematic portrayals justice, sacrificing the writing in the process, people wonder whether the same will come true for the upcoming game.
For now, it may be too early to make a judgment call. Treyarch has already stated that the game’s campaign will be larger than what we usually expect from an entry in this series, so who knows—only time will tell whether they can make things work out.
Call of Duty Needs a Big Win, and Black Ops 6 Is the Biggest Hope for It
From its insane marketing to all development news surrounding the game, it’s easy to tell that Activision desperately needs the game to be one of the biggest successes for the franchise.
Considering that the game is coming on day one on Game Pass, this game’s success can help Xbox hit the reset button and level the playing field too.
One can only imagine how incredible the pressure must be for Treyarch at the moment, as not only is the team tasked with moving away from the franchise’s recent failures, but are also given the task of proving to all that Microsoft’s acquisition was worth it in the end.
So, let us hope that Black Ops 6 ends up delivering on its promises and becomes one of the biggest releases of this generation. With that said, what are your thoughts on the game’s cast? Do you also feel worried that Treyarch will fumble the bag in the end? Let us know in the comments below.
