Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford joined in an audition for a scene in the presence of George Lucas. When Hamill was doing the scene, he believed that Ford’s character Hans Solo was going to be the leading man in the film which later expanded into a successful franchise. “When I did this scene, I thought Han Solo was the lead character and I was the sidekick,” Hamill said on Omaze.

“Harrison was a bona fide leading man, so I thought he was Captain America and I was Bucky. So when I eventually got the script and I opened to the front page, it said: The Star Wars: The Adventures of Luke Starkiller as taken from the ‘Saga of the Whills’ I realized, oh my gosh! It’s through my eyes. Weeks later, I got a call from my agent. She said, ‘They want you for Star Wars.’ I couldn’t believe it.”

Further, the actor revealed the nostalgic moments from the set. “And “we just had so much fun running around the Death Star, being trapped in the trash compactor. There wasn’t a day that we didn’t laugh a lot,” he added. For Ford, it was the beginning of his marvellous career while Hamill was fascinated by his charisma on set.

While commenting on a few scenes of his original audition tape for Star Wars, Hamill revealed what he thinks of Ford. “Harrison’s so considerate,” he said on Omaze. Evidently, Hamill was fond of the charm of a leading man Ford had at his disposal.

“This was the first day I ever met Harrison Ford, by the way. He’s always been one of my favorite people. I’m so lucky to have been able to work with him because he was the personification of cool. I mean, he was Han Solo. He’s better in the screen test than I am, and he’s off-camera, so that should give you some idea,” Hamill said of Ford seeing the audition tape.

But for both the actors and the rest of the cast members, it must have been great to be a part of the iconic franchise that has become a cult sci-fi classic and widely followed by a huge global fandom.
