“I literally thought there’s no way they would ever do it. And not because I thought it was so risque or shocking and I just was so fascinated with why is it being seen as, like, obscene?”

The 1991 picture of hers became the talk of the town and garnered mixed reviews. Somewhere else, it was reported that American retailer Walmart refused to sell the 1991 magazine referring to that picture as “indecent”.

While some appreciated the bravado of the actress who wanted to do something different with her photoshoot, others thought it was hideous to look at. However, it eventually started a revolution that inspired many to accept the glory of their bare self while being pregnant.

In a conversation with Naomi Campbell on the No Filter series on YouTube, she addressed the iconic photoshoot and stated what it meant to her. Not just that, she also got candid about how that photoshoot brought a new perspective for other women.

“I understand what impact it had on the world. On women, on our permission to embrace ourselves in a pregnant state. But it was a moment that I was taking to really be in myself and be expressing myself and not trying to be anything other than me.”

She continued,

“I do realize that that was a moment of recognition that I do think helped move me down the path of being able to step into owning who I am.”

Being a parent was something Moore took quite seriously. She even took a break from the industry at the peak of her career to support her daughters. The ex-couple eventually split in 1998 sharing three daughters. However, they continued to remain good friends to support their children.
