Ryan Gosling is already been one of the most beloved actors in Hollywood, however, his portrayal as Ken has brought him a complete Kenergy that has our hearts. Working alongside Margot Robbie in the new film, Barbie has fans gushing over the duo as their on-screen chemistry is just what we expect from them.

However, the on-screen pair disappointed many by not having a smooch. In a new PEOPLE interview, she opened up about how her friends were displeased since they didn’t see her locking lips with the former.

“All of my girlfriends were like, ‘Well you did a whole movie with him and you don’t kiss? What’s wrong with you? I thought you were kind of in charge on this one!’”

For the unversed, Robbie also serves as a producer in the project, which is why it was quite shocking that she didn’t use her special powers to add a smooch scene.

As for her Ken, Gosling shared that he was pleased with the results,

“It was so funny trying to figure out what their idea of kissing might be,” he said. “I’m so glad all of that got cut out.”

However, viewers will eventually see that the movie is not revolving around Barbie’s romance but so much more than that.

“I said, ‘Damien, I think Nellie would just go up and kiss Jack. And Damien was like, ‘Well, she could – wait, hold on. You just want to kiss Brad Pitt.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, so sue me. This opportunity might never come up again. And he was like, ‘It does work for the character.’ And I was like, ‘I think so.’”

Things went well as she hoped for. The director was quite impressed with the kissing scene that he encouraged them to go for it again which eventually made Robbie happier. It would have been quite sad for her to not kiss Gosling which she mentioned is something that she can’t check off the list.
