During Naked with Catt Sadler, Lawrence unveiled several details about her marriage with Cooke Maroney. The N.Y.C. art gallery director took no time to impress the actress and change her idea of marriage.
The Hunger Games star had been in former relationships with Nicholas Hoult and director Darren Aronofsky. But the immediate thought of marriage only struck Jennifer Lawrence when she met Cooke Maroney for the first time through a common friend. Even though the couple has a quite private married life, the couple has never stopped showing affection towards each other.
How did Jennifer Lawrence find her perfect match?
The Don’t Look Up actress started meeting with Cooke Maroney in the spring of 2018, months after she called off her relationship with director Darren Aronofsky. It was reported that Lawrence’s best friend Laura Simpson was the one who made this bond happen. Soon after meeting with the art gallery director, Jennifer Lawrence was completely in love and was sure of her future with him.
“I definitely wasn’t at a place where I was like, ‘I’m ready to get married’. I just met Cooke, and I wanted to marry him. We wanted to marry each other, we wanted to commit fully.”
The couple took less than a year to validate their relationship and officially tied the knot in October 2019 after being engaged in February. The 32-year-old actress praised her husband further in the podcast as her favorite person and how it was so easy to agree to his proposal.
“He’s my best friend, so I want to legally bind him to me forever. And fortunately, the paperwork exists for such a thing. It’s the greatest. You find your favorite person on the planet, and you’re like, ‘You can’t leave!’ So I wanted to take that offer.”
Although the couple hasn’t revealed much about their relationship on the internet, Lawrence has never stopped herself from giving insights into her happily married life with Cooke Maroney.

The couple welcomed their first baby son, Cy on February 2022. Lawrence even shared with Vogue how the journey of being a mother transformed her. On the other hand, the Causeway actress also stated that as caring as Maroney is, his aura is also very encouraging for her. According to Jennifer Lawrence, many of her hidden fears just vanished after she got together with her husband. She has been able to do several things that she couldn’t do earlier.
“There were just certain things, like, ‘Oh, I can’t do that.’ And then the past year, I’ve just been doing all of that … Honestly, I was dating someone, and I didn’t want to tell him about [my nerves]. You know, I wanted to be normal and cool, so I just kind of hid that part of me and everything ended up being fine. And I was like, ‘oh, I can do this.’ It was cool.”
No matter how much their whole relationship process sounds, it can’t be denied that they are happy with each other. Even after not publicizing many details in the public domain, Jennifer Lawrence’s candid interviews show that the actress is still very proud of her decision to marry Cooke Maroney.
