While speaking to Josh Horowitz, Mark Wahlberg recounted the story of how his friendship with Leonardo DiCaprio began during an interview. Initially, DiCaprio was hesitant about Wahlberg, knowing him primarily as “Marky Mark” from his music career. However, they had a chance encounter at an MTV Rock and Jock event where Wahlberg’s behavior on the basketball court and during his halftime show left a negative impression.

”Leo agreed I think he’s getting a lot of pressure from a lot of different people but he only knew me as Marky Mark and um and so,I think we played, we met before we played at the MTV Rock and jock sure we’re all great friendships are formed that didn’t make a good impression you know between me on the basketball court and then my halftime show, I was a tornado of prick-ness.

Despite this, when Wahlberg finally had an audition scheduled with DiCaprio, he ended up being eight hours late due to a snowstorm in New York. Although everyone was understandably upset, once they began reading together, Wahlberg was impressed by DiCaprio’s acting skills. Their friendship quickly blossomed, leading to Wahlberg being recommended for a role in a film by DiCaprio to director James Foley.

When I finally had the audition it was supposed to be on like a Monday and then on the Thursday you know, we’re sitting in New York, I’m bored I’m like yo let’s do something, I’m like everybody’s like what are we going to do I’m like you know with all my boys. We’re like I never been to Puerto Rico, let’s go to Puerto Rico.

He added,

Went to Puerto Rico flew down there went to Dorado Beach sure hung out and then all of a sudden we’re getting back on the flight and the 12:03 flight is cancelled, there’s snowstorm in New York and cut to we’re 8 hours late for the reading I walk in everybody’s pissed right, he’s sitting there like you know they’ve been waiting and waiting. Oh my God I got an earful from Calvert on the way in and then we sat down we started reading and I was like oh I was kind of like cuz I had never seen him really act in anything I knew he had Gilbert Grape out but I’d never really seen anything and uh you know being a guy from the street basketball player.”

Unfortunately, Wahlberg missed the opportunity to meet Foley due to a passport mishap in Germany. However, Foley was so impressed by Wahlberg’s audition tape that he insisted on casting him, even without meeting him in person. This marked the beginning of Wahlberg’s acting career.

In case you didn’t know, Ozempic and Wegovy, both developed by Novo Nordisk, are brand names for semaglutide, an FDA-approved weight-loss drug since 2021. Semaglutide and its counterparts, such as Ozempic, function by suppressing appetite.

While speaking to Page Six, Mark Wahlberg expressed a preference for the traditional approach to staying in shape. He advocates for a lifestyle change involving proper nutrition and exercise. He noted that he is not an advocate for Ozempic.

To each his own, but I do encourage people to eat right and exerciseIt’s much more [of] a lifestyle change. You’d be surprised what you can accomplish when you’re willing to do the work.”

However, Mark Wahlberg still respects individual choices in fitness journeys when it comes to using weight loss medicine. That said, he believes in the potential for ordinary people to achieve extraordinary things through a solid fitness foundation.

‘I don’t knock anybody for making their own choices,” he said. “But I prefer, and I’ve seen lots of people accomplish amazing things, ordinary people doing extraordinary things on a fitness base.”

Ozempic has side effects like muscle loss, nausea, and diarrhoea. Furthermore, the lost weight often returns after treatment cessation, so it makes sense why Mark Wahlberg doesn’t want to use it himself, and we respect him for that decision.
