Linda Hamilton has mostly been known for playing Sarah Connor in the Terminator series. While the role has changed her career and become her most popular one, she has not gotten many roles outside of the action space that show her dramatic range. It seems the actress was considering retirement, seemingly because the industry was not giving her interesting material outside of being ‘tough on-screen’.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hamilton revealed that she had grown tired of acting tough on-screen and her hip was hurting for some years. While she did not feel that the industry had forgotten about her, she was thinking of retiring soon. However, that all changed when she was approached to be a part of Stranger Things, in which she had a meaningful role. She said,

“I literally felt like I was an actress getting my first meaningful part [with Stranger Things],” Hamilton said. “It’s funny, how it recycles. It’s not that I felt forgotten, but I was actually talking about retirement, not because there isn’t enough to do, but just I’m tired of being tough. My hip was hurting for a couple of years and I was like, ‘I’m just so tired of being tough, and I just want to be able to make plans and make sure I can be there,’ because actors never, ever can be there when they say they’re going to be there.”

As Hamilton reveals, fans are set to see a different side of the actress outside of her typical action-oriented roles. Even while playing Sarah Connor, Hamilton managed to show her vulnerabilities very well and Hamilton seems to have found something special yet again with her role in Stranger Things. it remains to be seen how she factors in the final season of the show.
