The legacy of the Bond films is something that neither needs introductions nor does it need a history lesson to know the impact it has left in the film industry. Starting with the legendary Sean Connery as the British superspy in 1962’s Dr. No to recently concluding its latest chapter with Daniel Craig following in the footsteps of his predecessors in 2021’s No Time To Die, 25 films later, the franchise has only managed to grow in popularity

Starting with his journey as Agent 007 in 2006’s Casino Royale, Craig quickly became a sensation as the new Bond with a fresh take on the character as well as fine-written character development. Not only was Craig a savior of the franchise, but he also helped his co-star land the role she was being paranoid about in that film as well.

With the exit of Daniel Craig, the next James Bond is yet to be crowned, and considering just how impactful and revolutionary the star was when he took over as the face of the 007 franchise, the next star has huge shoes to fill. But Craig was not just one of the greatest Bonds in history, he also proved to be his co-star Eva Green‘s savior when he pushed her to become the Bond Girl in his debut film Casino Royale in 2006.

In the interviews conducted by authors Edward Gross and Mark A. Altman for their book, Nobody Does It Better, which is a comprehensive history of the entire 007 cinematic franchise, the 300: Rise of an Empire actress also weighed in on her experience shooting with Craig in the 2006 film. She talked about how stressful the audition process was for her because of her thick English accent, something that was a huge turn-off for the executives. Even when she assured them that she could modulate it to their liking, they had their doubts. She said:

“There was some mumbling at the screen test, that’s not a good sign, then I went to New York, four days after, and my agent called me and said, actually you have to come back straight away to Prague and audition again because they’re not fully satisfied. So, I was crying. It’s very stressful, and I didn’t know what was wrong, but they eventually said, ‘It’s just the English, darling; you just have to work on the English.'”

Later, she found that it was the Knives Out star who persuaded the franchise producer Barbara Broccoli to cast her, even so far as to borderline demand that she be given the role of Vesper Lynd in the film.

One of the most successful entries into the 007 franchise in a long while that would forever immortalize the impact of Daniel Craig as arguably the greatest Bond ever, Casino Royale brings the MI6 agent back into action, and this time, he has been issued the license to kill. This license will take him all the way to Madagascar, where he will meet Le Chiffre.

Finding out that the man finances the activities of terrorists all around the world, Bond is tasked with bringing him down by any means necessary, and when the Agency finds out that he wishes to raise money for the aforementioned acts of terrorism by hosting a high-profile Poker game, the agent enters the fray.
