Ever since Richard Gadd revealed that Baby Reindeer is based on true events in his personal life, it is as though the world is talking more about the hypothetical culprits than the series itself. There was a witchhunt for two people in the series; the man who allegedly s*xually assaulted and groomed Gadd, as well as Martha, the woman who stalked Gadd’s character throughout the series.

After audience members accused many different people from the creator’s past, the woman who inspired the character of Martha has finally spoken up. It would seem that the show’s credibility is shaking as Fiona Harvey claims that the show holds very little truth.

Richard Gadd’s Stalker Speaks Out

Fiona Harvey recently made an appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored, where she went into great detail about Richard Gadd’s Baby Reindeer. She specifically talked about how her identity was found and how she was treated by the world when her name was put out there. She revealed that fans of the show went deep into the creator’s past and dug out her name.

“On the internet, sleuths tracked me down and hounded me and gave me death threats,” said Harvey during the interview. “So it wasn’t really a choice. I was forced into this situation.” mentioned Fiona Harvey.

Once Harvey’s name entered the conversation, she started to receive threats and derogatory messages from people from all corners of the internet. It got so bad that she believed herself to have no choice but to speak out on the matter. Implying that her hand was forced, she talked about Gadd specifically, stating that he was mistaken about the nature of their relationship.

“I just generally think he’s got extreme psychiatric problems… It’s a work of fiction. It’s a work of hyperbole, as I’ve always said. And there are two true facts in that. His name is Richard Gadd, and he works as a jobbing barman on benefits, in the Hawley Arms.”

Harvey thinks that Gadd holds a delusion that led him to create the series, referring to its events as completely fictitious. She added that it was a great exaggeration of what transpired between them. So much so, that she believes there are only two truthful events in the series.

The Real-Life Martha’s Life Unraveled

Fiona Harvey then talked about how Baby Reindeer’s success has affected her personal life, especially after her name was out in the world. She mentioned that she felt vilified by the world, sidelined, and put in a horrible category that affected every relationship she had. Her professional life was severely affected, and the law graduate needed to put her perspective out in the world.

“Very, very defamatory to me, very career damaging. And I wanted to rebut that completely on this show [‘Piers Morgan’]. I’m not a stalker. I’ve not been to jail, I’ve not got injunctions, interdicts. This is just complete nonsense.” said Fiona Harvey.

She revealed that wanting to tell her side of the story was the reason she came on to the show. She mentioned that key details about Martha’s character were falsified, and none of those things actually happened in her personal life. It is safe to say that fans of the series are perplexed.
