Zachary Levi, best known for his work as the lead in Shazam! and its 2023 follow-up, never fails to impress both casting directors and audience members. The actor, 42, is currently gaining attention for some blunt remarks he made about Hollywood content.

However, he is also straightforward when describing the roles he is fervently seeking. For example, Levi had earlier openly stated his desire for the role, which he had been eagerly pursuing. The actor, 42, once shared that he had his eye on the coveted role of Pedro Pascal in The Last of Us.

His most recent film, Shazam!  Fury of the Gods received mixed reviews upon release, earned less than its predecessor, and thus, was considered a box-office bomb. However, since Shazam! 2 has already hit theaters, Levi has been vying for other parts like Nathan Drake in Uncharted and The Last of Us.

“I absolutely LOVE ‘The Last of Us’ ! I’ve loved it since I played the first game. Then the sequel was, dare I say, even better! I would be so stoked to be in the series! What say you, @Neil_Druckmann??”

He also acknowledged the aforementioned interest in one of his interviews:

“It’s one of the best pieces of entertainment content on any size screen of any medium of entertainment in the last 20 years, as far as I am concerned. And the second one was even better, which is unheard.”

Zachary Levi Was Interested In Tom Holland’s Role in Uncharted

Zachary Levi already portrayed a well-known DC superhero, but he does not plan to stop there. Earlier, if Tom Holland’s casting in the Uncharted film had not worked out, the Shazam! actor had entertained the idea of playing Nathan Drake.

Levi was asked which video game franchise he would most like to play the lead role in if given the chance during a panel at CCXP Cologne in Germany. He indicated a desire to play the lead in an Uncharted film:

“I played the first Uncharted when it first came out, I was like, ‘that dude’s the new Indiana Jones, I want to be the new Indiana Jones, I’m finding out where the movie rights are. Apparently Tom Holland is attached to be Nathan Drake, a young version of Nathan Drake, he’s a very talented and upstanding gentleman, and so I wish him nothing but luck. But if that doesn’t work out, I would love to be Nathan Drake.”

He also discussed the competition for the part and his love for The Last of Us, another Naughty Dog production:

“Also Nathan Fillion would love to be Nathan Drake, the face is kind of modeled after Nathan Fillion. But also The Last of Us. I mean, they’re gonna turn that into a movie too, and that would be an amazing role.”

The action scenes and Tom Holland’s performance in Uncharted were praised, but critics felt the action-adventure film was underwhelming in comparison to other adventure films.

Meanwhile, The Last of Us, a post-apocalyptic drama television series based on the 2013 video game created by Naughty Dog, received praise from critics, with some referring to it as the best video game adaptation ever.

Uncharted is available on Netflix, and The Last of Us is streaming on Max.
