Actor Robert Downey Jr. is in the headlines for his remarkable performance in Christopher Nolan’s latest movie, Oppenheimer. Downey’s path to success wasn’t an easy one and that’s why he always makes sure to look out for other celebrities in the industry.
The actor became a household name after he played Tony Stark / Iron Man in the MCU. During his time in the franchise, Downey sent actress Zoe Saldana a gift because she was having a hard time mixing up with her co-stars. Zoe Saldana played the role of Gamora in the MCU.

In 2018, MCU stars Robert Downey Jr., Zoe Saldana, Paul Bettany, Pom Klementieff, and Tom Holland appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! In the interview, Saldana revealed that Downey sent her a gift to break the ice. The actress recalled,
“[It was] one of those shooting times I was so sick and where people were just afraid to come over and say hello. I was just a pathetic green thing on set. There was a knock on my trailer and it was Robert’s assistant dropping off a whole bunch of supplements that he had put together for me as a get-well little package.”
Saldana was struggling to mix up with her co-stars and Downey’s little gift made her feel less anxious about the situation.
Tom Holland also had a good experience working with Robert Downey Jr.
Not just Saldana but many Hollywood stars have praised Robert Downey Jr. for his friendly nature. In a past interview with The Hollywood Reporter, actor Tom Holland said,
“Robert Downey Jr, the legend. One of my favorite people I have ever met. Honestly, someone that I really look up to. We had a lot of fun on the set together,” adding, “One of the more memorable moments in the MCU is when my character Peter Parker evaporates and turns to dust, and Robert and I had a really good time improvising that scene. I think we really understood that it was going to be a really gut-wrenching moment.”
It was also revealed that Downey helped actor Armie Hammer during his controversies. With Downey’s help, Hammer went to a rehabilitation center.
Robert Downey Jr. gained popularity in the 1990s
The actor quickly gained recognition in the 1980s and 1990s, however, he struggled with substance abuse, which lead to legal issues and interruptions in his career. His good friend and director, Jon Favreau, revived his career in the 2000s as he got him the role of Iron Man / Tony Stark in the MCU.
After overcoming all those difficulties, today, he is a versatile actor that has been recognized for his talent with numerous awards and nominations.
