Colin Farrell was habituated to the dark way back before starring in Matt Reeve’s The Batman. Talking about his crippling addiction, the actor seemed to be terrified of having s*x while in a sober state since that wasn’t his thing.

While having to go to a rehabilitation center for his drug addiction, Colin Farrell revealed in a 2014 interview that he had been sober for a decade but was terrified of s*x. Farrell stated that he had been habituated to drunkenness and dark rooms during his addiction.

When Colin Farrell Battled Drug Addiction

A plethora of celebrities went through a tough time, and Colin Farrell was one of them. The Irish actor had been addicted to recreational drugs and painkillers for which he had to be rehabilitated. He had been released from rehab but it was tough for the actor to keep things under control.

Talking about his uncontrollable addiction, the Fantastic Beasts actor stated that he was terrified of having s*x while in his sober condition. The Batman actor stated that he had been habituated to dark rooms, clubs, and/or toilets whatever fit the bill. The actor was previously referred to as the “Lusty Leprechaun” before his rehabilitation. Colin Farrell told to Elle in 2014 the moment he had s*x for the first time after being sober for 10 years was a very terrifying ordeal for him.

“I made love to a woman about two and a half years after I got clean, and it was one of the most terrifying moments of my life. It was in the afternoon. The windows and the curtains were open. It was lovely, and, to be crass, it wasn’t fucking. She was very gentle. But it was terrifying. Because I was just used to drunkenness and dark rooms and clubs and toilets and wherever.”

After all these years of rehab, Colin Farrell talked about his addiction on the David Letterman Show. Stating how drugs and painkillers benefited him, the actor quickly realized his mistake when it all began to crumble around him.

The Thirteen Lives actor was admitted to a rehab center back in December 2005. After being released, the actor appeared on Late Show With David Letterman to talk about the recent incident. Farrell talked about what it felt like taking drugs, and the eventual downfall that he had to face.

“There was an energy that was created, a character that was created, that no doubt benefited me. And then there was a stage where it all began to crumble around me.”

The actor is doing a lot better these days with his recent starring in The Banshees of Inisherin and The Batman. Colin Farrell will have to reprise his role as The Penguin again when the spinoff series based on Matt Reeve’s version of The Batman gets into production.
