“I was okay with burning bridges”: Ant-Man 3 Star Evangeline Lilly Doesn’t Regret Turning Down Joss Whedon for Wonder Woman Movie After Refusing to Join Hugh Jackman in X-Men Franchise

Almost everyone in the Hollywood industry today has taken up the policy to focus and take on the roles that they feel positively strongly about, and work on them to make a project worth working for. Amongst these superstars, Ant-Man star Evangeline Lilly is also one of those people who feel the same about their work and their discipline.

The star’s reputation for focusing on projects that she can find challenging or satisfying, or both, has led her career to be so illustrious, as can be noticed by many today. Thus, when she revealed that she had been offered roles in multiple different superhero films in the past before Ant-Man, and she refused them, it didn’t come as a shock to most of her fans.

Being a part of some of the biggest hits in the industry like The Hobbit Trilogy, along with her integral role in the MCU as The Wasp, Evangeline Lilly has been one of the few actors who has surprisingly taken the right decisions when it came to her career as a Hollywood star. All of her aforementioned films are a smashing commercial success at the box office. But along with her choosing the right films, she also prides herself on her decision to turn down many of them.

During an interview with Varietythe Lost star revealed that she had been approached by many other film projects in the past, most notable among them being Hugh Jackman’s offer for her to be a part of X-Men films, which she declined when she was offered that chance after the wrapping up of Real Steel. But even before that, an offer came from Joss Wheadon himself, who wanted Lilly to be a part of DC’s Wonder Woman as the titular protagonist, both of which she politely declined to be a part of. She said:

“I was okay with that. I was okay with burning bridges. I was okay with not having everyone in Hollywood wanna work with me… I just always had to do what felt right for me. And honestly, I wasn’t into superhero movies and that’s the main reason why, in both of these instances, I just kind of felt like I don’t know what I get out of this.”

By not piling up too much work-related pressure on herself, she was able to take her energy and channel it into making quality contributions to her film projects.
