British actor Henry Cavill, widely known for portraying the character of Clark Kent a.k.a., Superman in DCEU, has been appreciated for his portrayal of the famous comic book character. He has also been lauded for the portrayal of Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher from 2019 to 2023. With his characters on-screen, Cavill has grown to be one of the most influential people in the entertainment industry.
The actor has appeared in a couple of spy movies, including Tom Cruise starrer Mission: Impossible- Fallout, in 2016. He recently appeared in Matthew Vaughn’s spy action comedy movie, Argylle, in which he played the titular character. Upon its release, the movie received negative reviews from critics. Henry Cavill admits to ‘being terrified’ while working alongside Jim Caviezel in The Count of Monte Cristo
Henry Cavill appeared in 2002’s The Count of Monte Cristo starring Jim Caviezel, Guy Pearce, Richard Harris, and more. Directed by Kevin Reynolds, the movie was an adaptation of the 1844 novel of the same name, and the actor played the role of Albert Mondego in it.
During his recent promotional events for Argylle, the team spoke to Collider, where they were asked about the scene in their career they had felt most nervous about before filming. Cavill said,
“I think you can get nervous and scared before most scenes, really. It’s good to have that feeling. It means the scene is alive inside you. But before I knew that, it was The Count of Monte Cristo, which was my first ever-professional job. I was fresh out of school, and I was terrified.”
The Superman actor admits that it was a big movie and he didn’t know what to expect or if he was going to be able to do it. Cavill describes his experience of working on the movie as terrifying. The movie, upon its release, performed well at the box office and received positive reviews from the audience and critics.
Henry Cavill describes filming action sequences for Argylle with new techniques as ‘challenging’
During his conversation with Collider, the actor who has had good experience filming action sequences in movies before was asked about them for Argylle using new techniques. To which he said,
“It’s challenging because it’s new techniques. I’ve done a fair few fight scenes throughout my career and walking into this, we knew it was going to be something different.”
Cavill shared that director Matthew Vaughn had informed the cast that they are trying to do something brand new and there is a probability of it working or failing but they’d have to work really hard in the rehearsals and see how it goes. The actor continued,
“We pushed and pushed and pushed, and all that rehearsal time and all the work that Matthew puts into pre-production pays off because Sam and I, on that train scene for example, it seemed to go fairly seamlessly and it was only because of the hard work put in.”
Henry Cavill lastly added that scenes like these only work when the cast does their bit puts in the hard work, prep well, and eventually it turns out to be a fantastic scene. Vaughn admitted that he likes to start movies with a strong, hard sequence because it gets the crew up to speed very quickly.
