After making her Hollywood debut in 1994’s North at the age of 12, actress Scarlett Johansson appeared in several movies. In the late 1990s, she auditioned for the role of twins Hallie Parker and Annie James in Disney’s 1998 movie The Parent Trap. During her appearance on Howard Stern Show, Johansson recalled that she got rejected because she was too old for the role,

“I was too old for that movie when I auditioned for it. Maybe when it came out, I was also too old to watch it.”

Earlier this year, Johansson also recalled the time she lost a role in director Alfonso Cuarón’s 2013 movie Gravity. The actress told Variety,

“I got turned down for two roles – the first was Iron Man 2 and then the other one was Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity. I had wanted that role so much. It was sort of the straw that broke the camel’s back. I felt really frustrated and hopeless. Like, ‘Am I doing the right job?’ The work I was being offered felt deeply unfulfilling. I think I was offered every Marilyn Monroe script ever. I was like, ‘Is this the end of the road creatively?'”

The role of Natasha Romanoff in the MCU initially went to Emily Blunt but due to some issues, it was passed on to Johansson. Unfortunately, Johansson was rejected for the role of Ryan Stone in Gravity and the role went to Sandra Bullock.
