Initially, Salma Hayek thought of Jolie as “cold,” but in reality, it was totally the opposite. As Magic Mike’s Last Dance star once told Ok!, “I thought she [Angelina Jolie] was gonna be colder or distant… I was very surprised, she’s warm and lovely.” Hayek has also told Elle:

“Angie was different. I discovered a soul sister who is similar to me in so many ways. I felt like I’d known her for my entire life. I got to know her a little better than everyone else, and it’s very precious to me.”

Jolie and Hayek bonded so well off-screen. They enjoyed moments like playfully shoving Hayek’s face into a cake. This made Hayek feel a strong connection with her Angie.

Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek again chose to work together in the movie Without Blood. While not much is known about this movie, it’s Jolie’s fifth directorial project. The Maleficent star selected Hayek (for the role of Nina) and actor Demián Bichir (Tito).

The multi-talented director was impressed by their performances to lead the film. As she told People, “Salma and Demián are very authentic and brave in this film. I had been a fan of their work. I knew they would bring solid commitment and craft to the film but honestly, they both blew me away.”

Not only Jolie, but Hayek also thinks highly of her Eternals co-star as a filmmaker. She confined to Deadline that “Angelina is the best director” she has ever worked with. The 57-year-old “absolutely loved working with her; enjoyed every second of it.”  The Mexico native then added that AJ is a “genius” and that she thinks “this might be her best movie yet. She did an amazing job, really.”
