Coming up in the film industry is something that many people take for granted, choking it up to luck. But while luck plays a part in the process of making an exceptional movie star, the constant physical, and more importantly, psychological battles that they have to fight, are something that separates the best from the rest. Brie Larson is a stunning example of how overcoming those odds made her what she is today, and that the suffering is pervasive at first.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter a couple of years back, the Kong: Skull Island star laid out the journey that she took to the top, where she now is world-renowned as Captain Marvel from the MCU. Talking about her early years, Larson also opened up about how her looks and nature were hard to fit into the mold of the industry, which started to affect her in an emotional and psychological way. She said:

“I wasn’t pretty enough to play the popular girl, I wasn’t mousy enough to play the mousy girl, so I never fit in, I would get close, but I wasn’t a cliche, so I never got anywhere with anything, and it was really painful. Everybody has dreams, it’s like you’re constantly questioning yourself with those ‘no’s. Is this another moment that I take and use this toward the craft of another time, or am I just delusional? Am I just completely insane?”

Despite the odds stacked against her, she forced herself out of these shackles by focusing on her strengths, which came in handy as she started to climb the hierarchical ladder, and the rest is history.
