Sydney Sweeney played small roles in TV shows like Criminal Minds and Grey’s Anatomy before her noteworthy role in Netflix’s Everything Sucks!. The series was well-received but was canceled after one season. Sweeney’s breakthrough TV role was Cassie Howard in the HBO drama series Euphoria. She received an Emmy nomination for her role in 2022.

While she enjoys her star status now, Sweeney also had her fair share of struggles. During an interview with GQ, she revealed how she had a plan to reclaim her family home when she turned 18 but couldn’t do it. During this time, she continued to go to auditions and was faced with some skepticism.

The Sharp Objects actress recalled one incident with a casting director when she auditioned for a TV role. She shared, “A casting director told me once that I will never be on a TV show.” Sweeney was told that she didn’t have the “right look” for the role, a comment that objectified her body. Sweeney had a reply to that comment during her interview, sharing, “Now, I’m on some of the biggest TV shows in the world.”

It appears that the actress got countless opinions from strangers about her body, something that she never asked for. She also recalled someone’s mother telling her not to have bruises her on body, reasoning that no boy would ever love her. The White Lotus actress responded graciously that she would love herself. Sweeney shared:

I had someone tell me once, it was [someone’s] mother, actually. I’m a very active person. I get hurt. I get bruises. I get cuts. I think I came back from laser tag, and I had rug burns all over my legs because I got really into it. And she sat me up on the counter and told me that no boy will ever love me if I have marks on my body. I told her, ‘Well, I guess I’m just gonna have to love myself.’

Sweeney has of course found love as she is engaged to businessman Jonathan Davino, who is also her producing partner at Fifty Fifty Films. She has also got a couple of interesting projects currently—Ron Howard’s Eden and Echo Valley co-starring Julianne Moore.

Sydney Sweeney recently went viral with photos of her in a bathing suit on a boat. She captioned the Instagram post, “I think they call this a thirst trap.” Sweeney posed with her backside facing the camera, as she wore a long-sleeved one-piece with a Brazilian-style cut bottom. Her makeup artist Melissa Hernandez and hairstylist Glen Oropeza also appeared in the photos.

Interestingly, NFL player DeAndre Hopkins replied to the post with the comment, “Trapped”. The Tennessee Titans wide receiver had to delete his comment after it went viral, but not before some fans took a screenshot and shared it on X. Many fans have shared that the NFL star commented what they had felt.
