Harrison Ford got emotional while reflecting on his last stint as Indiana Jones

The character of Indiana Jones remains the greatest treasure hunter across all media even after 4-decades since its inception, and seeing Harrison Ford parting ways with the character is hard on fans. But despite his love for the role, which pushed him to give his all to craft the deserved conclusion for the character, the Star Wars star is not open to donning the mantle again in the future. With teary eyes, the actor confirmed Indiana Jones 5 is the last time fans will see him in the boots of the iconic character. He explained,

“This is it! I will not fall down for you again. I’ll miss the people who I’ve worked with on the film, everyone at Lucasfilm, at Disney, [director] Jim Mangold, and the actors. But I’m not going to miss Indy because he’s fulfilled his purpose, and I’m really happy to have seen it come around to the end.”

Reflecting on the end product, the Blade Runner star seems quite satisfied with how things turned out and commended James Mangold for making a film that the fans deserve.

Harrison Ford wasn’t the initial choice for Indiana Jones

There are certain characters fans can’t imagine being played by someone else other than the actor that played it, and it’s the same case with Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones. But surprisingly the Star Wars star wasn’t the initial choice for the role, as Tom Selleck was eyed as the favorite to star in the Spielberg classic. However, due to contractual obligations with another television show at the time, Selleck had to depart from the movie, thus making way for the Blade Runner actor. Ford recalled,

“How I got the job? Tom Selleck had the job, but he also incurred an obligation to do a television series and he was unable to get out of that contract. I became the second choice, and I’m very grateful for Tom. Thank you, Tom, man. If you’re listening, thank you again.”
