Glen Powell is riding a high right now. After appearing in Top Gun: Maverick, the actor has become a fan favorite of DC fans who want him to star as Green Lantern. However, 2022 was not a wholly successful year for him. Another one of his movies, Devotion, starring Jonathan Majors, bombed at the box office. It made just $21.8 million on a budget of $90 million. However, Powell loved making the film with Majors, who he had to convince in a Russian bath to star in it.
How Did Glen Powell Convince Jonathan Majors For Devotion?
Jonathan Majors stars as the lead Jesse Brown in Devotion. Glen Powell plays his friend Tom Hudner in the film. In an interview with Variety, Powell expressed his admiration for Majors and shared a funny anecdote about meeting him in a Russian bath and pitching him the film there. As per Powell:
“I had just seen ‘The Last Black Man in San Francisco’ and I was like, ‘This is the guy. We have to get him.’ He read and liked the script, and I flew to New York to meet him. I remember getting a nervous call from the producers saying, ‘Hey, Jonathan wants to meet you at a Russian bathhouse. Is that okay?’ I was like, ‘Sure. I will sell him on this movie in a Russian bath.'”

The Top Gun: Maverick actor also said that even though the situation was awkward, they ultimately became best friends due to it. Powell elaborated:
“It’s funny to meet someone where you’re basically naked and pitching them. But we were there for hours and we came out great friends.”
The actor also said that Majors is “going to be on the Mount Rushmore of great actors of our generation.” However, the Kang actor’s Hollywood dream run might get crushed because of abuse allegations that have surfaced against him.
