After having been ‘just friends’ for more than a decade, the two often support and vouch for each other in the press.
Despite their bond and the friendship they share, it is undeniable that it must be awkward for them to get intimate on-screen. And it is a fact that both accept. So to make it less awkward, Taraji P. Hensen revealed a funny trick she uses to stop the Iron Man star from getting aroused during their s*x scenes.

The Empire co-stars Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard have been friends for a long time. They first played a couple in 2005 and since then their friendship has only grown. Such is the chemistry between the two co-stars, that people often suspect them of being more than just friends occasionally.
And since they played an on-screen couple in their hit drama Empire, it must have been weird to shoot intimate scenes with a person they have been best friends with for more than a decade. In an interview, the actress revealed that Howard actually hates filming s*x scenes with her.
“He’s like one of my coolest male friends in life. He hates that.”
Despite the awkwardness, being the professionals they are, Henson and Howard didn’t let the awkwardness get in between their character’s stories. Moreover, Henson had a few tricks that stopped her best friend Howard from getting aroused during their s*x scenes.
Taraji P. Henson’s Disturbing Technique To Stop Her Co-star From Getting Aroused
To quell the awkwardness and keep things cool between them, Taraji P. Henson has her own weird and disturbing trick to keep her best friend of years ‘not aroused’. In an interview, the Emmy-nominee actress informed,
Because you have to keep them, the boys, you have to keep them professional. They can’t help if they get aroused. Every time we laid there, he kept talking to his male member, ‘Don’t do that! No, don’t! Taraji’s gonna punch me!’ So then I said, ‘You know, I will sock you in the throat.'”
She then stated her weird little trick,
“He goes, ‘OK, I’m gonna have to keep my pants on.’ And I said, ‘OK, do what you need to do…Let me help you.’ Every time he would get on top of me, I would be [in a little girl’s voice], ‘Daddy, why are you on top of me? Where’s mommy? Why is the door closed?’ He would be like, ‘Oh no!’ But it worked. I would be like, ‘Why are you touching me, Daddy?’ And he was like, ‘Aw, no, that is twisted.’ But guess what? We got through the scene real quick.”
As disturbing as it sounds to us, the disturbing trick sure does work to keep things professional between them and stay friends in spite of the numerous intimate scenes between them.
