The story is complex but structured, and it features an array of characters that are able to portray the plot exactly as Kubo wants. All of this is the hard work and brains of Kubo, and it truly makes him a brilliant mangaka. However, this sparkling brilliance of the manga creator gave rise to an odd obsession in him.

Kubo once revealed that whenever a thought or a concept emerges in his mind, he has a struggling need to express it. He even stated that if, for some reason, he is not able to do so, he feels unsatisfied, no matter what.

Tite Kubo’s Bizarre Obsession

The creator of Assassination Classroom, Matsui Yusei and Kubo, were once interviewed for the JUMP Giga 2017 vol. 2, and this interview was translated by MissStormCaller on Tumblr. During the interview, Yusei asked Kubo about the statement he made, in which he revealed that whenever he has a thought, he has to express it; otherwise, he feels sick.

Kubo replied:

Ah, that’s right. If I don’t draw it, I will start to feel sick when it doesn’t take form.

Kubo pointed out that most of his ideas are about the scenarios and narratives in his works, and he feels the urge to draw them no matter what, and if his ideas don’t take form, he feels sick.

This obsession to anyhow express his ideas and thoughts might be one of the main reasons why Bleach has so many plotlines and storyboards that make it a little complex. However, these are also the reasons why Bleach became an anime and manga series that inspired so many others.

Tite Kubo Never Used All of His Ideas for Bleach

Talking about his weird compulsion, Tite Kubo revealed that his need to express his thoughts came in handy when he was working on Bleach because it gave him so many ideas that he couldn’t use most of them. He would generally create their narratives and keep them, but they would get lost somewhere.

Kubo stated:

Because I was drawing “BLEACH” all the time, there were many ideas I couldn’t use. Right away, I would compose a storyboard or something…It repeatedly gets lost somewhere.

Kubo also explained that he drew these storyboards before the series got serialized, which made them even more precious, but as Kubo had so many ideas, he could only go with the best ones and had to discard the rest.

If he had included all of his ideas in his magnum opus, Bleach would have become unnecessarily long, and there is a chance that fans might have gotten bored with the story, and it would have never made it one of the best anime and manga series of all time.

You can watch Bleach on Hulu.
