After sustaining near-fatal injuries at the hand of his 14,000-pound snowplow last year, Jeremy Runner was airlifted from the scene and spent two weeks in extensive care. While the recovery process was slow and drawn out following the extent of his injuries, fortunately, the actor is well and kicking again and has marked his return to the silver screen with Mayor of Kingstown season 3.
However, the long road to recovery could’ve been avoided had the Avengers: Age of Ultron star been on snow instead of asphalt and ice on that fateful day.
Jeremy Renner Wishes He Was on Snow During His Snowplow Accident

Four months after his near-death experience, Jeremy Renner finally opened up to the public about the traumatic incident in an interview with ABC’s Diane Sawyer. While speaking with the journalist, Renner detailed the traumatic affair, revealing that he and his 27-year-old nephew, Alex, were attempting to tow the Ford Raptor out from the snow with his snowcat.
Unfortunately, during this process, the snowplow began to slide on the ice while Renner’s nephew was busy undoing the chain connecting the two vehicles. Being worried about his nephew, Renner, who forgot to put on the brakes, stepped out to look for Alex but lost his footing in the process. This eventually resulted in him being crushed by the snowplow after he attempted to jump back on it, and considering he was on asphalt and ice instead of snow, the pain was only exacerbated.
It is hard to imagine what that feels like, but when you look at the machine and you look at — I was on asphalt and ice. I wish I was on snow. It felt like someone took the wind out of you. Too many things are going on in the body to feel pain, it’s everything. It’s like if your soul could have pain.
But despite the gravity of the situation, the actor didn’t lose his spirit as he recounted screaming “‘Not today, motherf-cker!” while being run over by the snowplow. Had he been on snow instead of asphalt and ice that day, it’s reasonable to assume the injuries he sustained wouldn’t have been as grave and the recovery process would’ve been more swift.
Jeremy Renner Was Initially Low on Confidence Heading Into Mayor of Kingstown 3
Following his accident in 2023, the Hawkeye star’s doctors told him that it’d take him years to get back on his feet, which made fans doubt Mayor of Kingstown 3 might no longer be in the cards. But being an Avenger at heart, Renner was walking again within three months, thanks to his sheer resilience, and Mayor of Kingstown season 3 has finally hit the small screen.

However, getting back to acting again wasn’t easy, as pulling off 10 episodes of the Taylor Sheridan show was an arduous process for Renner. But despite being low in confidence heading up to season 3, Renner rose up to the challenge, stressing, “It’s a blessing where I’m at now”.
It’s a blessing where I’m at now, and this was certainly part of the recovery. I didn’t have a whole lot of expectations or confidence going into this.
This is just the beginning of the next chapter of the actor’s career, as Renner will also star in the upcoming threequel of Daniel Craig’s Knives Out.
Mayor of Kingstown Season 3 is available to stream on Paramount Plus.
