For a long time, it was believed that LucasFilm shelved director Kevin Feige’s very own Star Wars movie. However, it has been recently confirmed by Lucasfilm President, Kathleen Kennedy, that no such project was ever in development.
Several social media outlets claimed that the President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, has been secretly working on his Star Wars movie. This created a lot of hype as fans really wanted to see Feige’s version of the franchise but now Kennedy’s statement felt like a buzzkill. There’s also some good news for Star Wars fans. It was announced during the Star Wars Celebration 2023 that several Star Wars projects are currently in development, including three new Star Wars movies.
Kevin Feige never made a Star Wars film
Multiple sources claimed that the President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, created his own Star Wars movie but it was scrapped by LucasFilm. However, Lucasfilm’s President, Kathleen Kennedy, revealed that Feige never made anything,
“Kevin Feige’s project was something announced in the press, or I suppose, fandom. But, there was nothing… Nothing ever got developed. We never discussed an idea. As everybody knows Kevin, is a huge Star Wars fan. If he did come up with something, I would be all ears. But, that’s never really happened. So, it’s not an abandoned project. It just never really happened.”
The announcement was quite disappointing but Kennedy has claimed that the studios would love to work with Feige in the future. With Disney acquiring Lucasfilm, fans can expect something from Feige in the future.
Screenwriter Michael Waldron claimed something else
Screenwriter Michael Waldron has worked on several projects with Feige, including Loki season 1 and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. In 2022, the screenwriter explained that Eric Martin has taken over for him as head writer of Loki‘s season 2. He was then asked what was the reason behind the replacement and his words caught everyone’s attention,
“Obviously, I’m kind of busy, off writing this little Star Wars movie as well.”
But now, Kathleen Kennedy’s statement completely contradicts what Waldron said in 2022. Even if it isn’t confirmed as of now, it may be possible in the future to see a Star Wars movie made by Kevin Feige and written by Michael Waldron.

LucasFilm announced new projects
Star Wars fans still have something to be happy about, Kathleen Kennedy also announced some new projects at the Star Wars Celebration 2023, including three new films directed by James Mangold, Dave Filoni, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Kennedy stated that these movies will “span the past, the present, and the future.” This has created a lot of excitement among the fans as they are really looking forward to seeing what these directors will bring to the big screen.
