John Cena has done a number of jobs alongside being a WWE wrestler. The Peacemaker actor appeared alongside Bill Hader and Amy Schumer in the 2015 American romantic comedy movie Trainwreck.
As revealed by reports, John Cena appeared for a total of 3 scenes in the entire runtime of 2 hours and 5 minutes of the movie but walked off with $2.5 million from the sets of Trainwreck.
John Cena Walked Off With $2.5 Million For 3 Scenes
Trainwreck follows the life of a magazine writer (Amy Schumer) who had given up on any thoughts of love. She soon meets a sports doctor (Bill Hader) who makes her reconsider her life principles and the feeling of love.
John Cena is a character named Steven, a gym-addicted “bro” in the movie who has a casual on-and-off relationship with the protagonist. Cena’s comedic timing perfectly portrays the tone of the movie and was seen in only 3 scenes for the entire runtime of the film. According to BuzzFeed, The Suicide Squad actor walked off the set of Trainwreck with $2.5 million in hand for barely appearing in 3 scenes.
With a really high ratio of minutes to dollars, John Cena later stated that although his screen time was very less, he genuinely loved the movie.
“I’ve been very much looking to do a comedy for quite some time. When you’re a WWE superstar you’re kind of stuck in the television world, and that’s where I was spending most of my time,”
John Cena further continued how he auditioned for Trainwreck and was called for a table read with Judd Apatow and Amy Schumer.
“I was approached to audition for Trainwreck, but it wasn’t a sure shot though. Then I got asked back to do a table read with Amy and Judd and got cast in the movie from there. It’s a fun atmosphere to be a part of, this project especially. Working with Amy and Judd was fantastic and I would clock in and just laugh the whole day.”
Trainwreck found much success following its release as currently stands at a strong rating of 84% on Rotten Tomatoes. Now the wrestler-turned-actor, John Cena’s upcoming venture sees him in a buddy movie with fellow DC actor Jason Momoa.
John Cena Teams Up With Jason Momoa
John Cena is ready to reprise the role of Jacob Toretto in the upcoming FastX movie. The twist in the tale comes from the fact that Jason Momoa will helm the sets of the Fast & Furious franchise by being the big bad baddie in FastX.
Although both actors have iconic DC roles, with Momoa portraying Aquaman and Cena portraying Peacemaker, the duo have further teamed up to star in a comedy movie titled Killer Vacation. Although no directors have been attached to the current project, the movie will be written by Mark & Brian Gunn, cousin, and brother to James Gunn.
As of yet, there has been no confirmed release date for Killer Vacation but John Cena will be spotted in some time when FastX releases theatrically on 19th May 2023 across the U.S.
