Sofia Boutella is an iconic actress who found her breakthrough role in 2014 when she portrayed the role of Gazelle in the 2014 film Kingsman: The Secret Service. Jumpstarting her career, Boutella went on to portray the role of Jaylah in the 2016 film Star Trek Beyond.
Well, the actress found much fame in the role of Jaylah but the Star Trek franchise had so much chaos within their own films that the franchise took a pause. In an interview, Boutella revealed that she would love to return to the role of Jaylah in a heartbeat if given the chance!

Starring alongside notable stars like Chris Pine, Idris Elba, Zoe Saldana, and, Karl Urban, Sofia Boutella found much fame and worldwide love for her portrayal of Jaylah. An alien who doesn’t need anyone to survive and fends for herself, Jaylah is indeed quite an interesting character.
Recent reports state that Paramount has been trying very hard to develop Star Trek 4, a sequel to the 2016 film Star Trek Beyond. With Boutella’s character getting accepted into the Starfleet Academy at the end of the movie, there is a chance that Jaylah could appear in the allegedly upcoming film.
Despite the slim chances, Sofia Boutella revealed in her chat with Fandom Spotlite that she would love to return to that role. During her talks, Boutella was quite excited to chat about the character of Jaylah and how she loved her so much. Boutella (who recently defended Zack Snyder) revealed that she would love to her evolve with the rest of the heroes.
I would love to see her evolve with all of the guys and with everybody. I would love to go back to her. I love her a lot. I enjoyed that experience so much. I would do it in a heartbeat.
She further talked about any potential updates about Star Trek 4.
I don’t know if they’re making a fourth one. I hear things all the time, but I don’t know what’s happening.
Despite the secrecy that the Star Trek franchise has been maintaining, fans are expecting some sort of movies and TV shows that would eventually follow up to the original. Introducing characters like Jaylah could also help bring the Star Trek franchise into modern times.

Jaylah Was Inspired By Jennifer Lawrence’s One Iconic Character!
It was the summer of 2010 when a film titled Winter’s Bone was released (ironic). Starring Jennifer Lawrence in the lead role, the film was Lawrence’s breakthrough role as she portrayed the role of Ree Dolly and received much praise.
Well, the writers of the 2016 film Star Trek Beyond were so in love with the character of Ree Dolly that they decided that their franchise needed one too. As per a report by Vox, Simon Pegg and Doug Jones were having trouble naming the character that they had created.
Since it was inspired by Jennifer Lawrence’s character in Winter’s Bone, Doug Jones and Simon Pegg started calling her “Jennifer Lawrence in Winter’s Bone”. The name was later narrowed down to J. Law as Simon Pegg recalls it, “Then we started calling her J. Law, and that became Jaylah.”
And that is how the character of Jaylah came to be. With Sofia Boutella portraying the iconic role, Star Trek Beyond went on to earn a rating of 7/10 on IMDB and a whopping 86% on Rotten Tomatoes. The 2016 film is available to stream on Paramount+ in the U.S.
