The plot follows the life of Bruce Nolan, a news reporter living in Buffalo, New York. He is tired of his ordinary life, covering the mundane aspects of his profession, and harbors an even bigger ambition. In a surprising twist of fate, God answers his call and grants him his powers under certain conditions. What follows, is a tale of selfishness, which then makes way for selflessness, and, finally, love.

Freeman played God, while Carrey played Nolan. The former went on to reprise his role in the spinoff, Evan Almighty.  In an interview with the Television Critics Association, Slash Film asked him if he would return for a sequel to the first film. Morgan answered in the affirmative.

“I think I would have to if they did it. If Jim Carrey plays his character, and if I was called on, I would feel obligated,” he said.

In 2012, a direct sequel to Bruce Almighty was announced. However, there has been no update since then. Even Carrey is reluctant to act in sequels since they lose much of their novelty.

While a sequel to Carrey’s film seems unlikely, Morgan is celebrating another major milestone. One of his more iconic films is set to turn 30 this year.

Morgan Freeman’s The Shawshank Redemption will celebrate its 30th anniversary this year

Freeman has been a part of several iconic films in his career, and The Shawshank Redemption is one of them. Based on the Stephen King novel, the film has earned itself a spot as one of the best films of all time.

The film came out in 1994, but its story still resonates with many. The story follows the life of Andy Dufresne, who befriends Red, another prisoner sentenced to life. It tells a tale of hope, despite the grim setting of the story.
