Even though Giuliana Rancic made a public apology for her joke on Zendaya, one would think that it was the end of the controversy. However, Kathy Griffin’s comments on her co-host’s joke brought immense backlash as she decided to not support Rancic on the unintentionally offending comment on the actress’ hairstyle.

Kathy Griffin Left Giuliana Rancic In The Open After Immense Backlash

During the 2015 Academy Awards ceremony, Zendaya was wearing a white dress with a dreadlocks hairstyle. Needless to say, she was looking drop-dead gorgeous. However, Giuliana Rancic commented how the Euphoria actress’ hair smelled like “patchouli oil … or weed.”

Rancic’s comments brought immense backlash on her as Zendaya criticized the Fashion Police host for her ignorant slurs on her Instagram. The post received immense support from other celebrities such as Kerry Washington, Viola Davis, Chloe Moretz, and Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

In the lengthy post the actress stated how she was judged on typical stereotypes which are “outrageously offensive,” and none of the African American celebrities sporting a deadlock “smell like weed.”

While Giuliana Rancic was heavily criticized for her joke, Kathy Griffin was asked by Chicago Sun-Times’ Splash magazine, if people would have reacted the same way to her joke. She answered, “Probably not,” adding, “But I wouldn’t have said the joke in the first place. Some dude wrote it for her.”

Kathy Griffin gave a piece of advice to Rancic to not let anyone write her jokes on the Fashion Police, and that she should stick to what she does best.

“Don’t have anyone write you jokes or even suggest jokes for you on Fashion Police. You have enough great insider gossip from actually being ON the red carpet. That’s what fans want to hear the next day. Just talk and be yourself.”

While Kathy Griffin gave great advice to the Fashion Police host to avoid stirring up unwanted controversies in Hollywood. As she had beef with Sharon Stone surrounding the infamous photograph from 2017.

Griffin posed with the Trump head covered in what looked like ketchup, the picture was immediately flagged on social media and became a topic of criticism among the politicians. She received countless death threats, and so did her family.

Even though she was one of the most successful comedians of this generation, she could not escape the cancel culture, as the shoot made her lose all her work, including CNN’s New Year’s Eve special. And she was heavily criticized for her actions by Sharon Stone, telling her to “leave the country.” As a result, the acclaimed comedian made fun of Sharon Stone in her shows, resulting in a beef with the actress.
