The actress-stuntwoman Diana Lee Inosanto, who is starring in the Disney+ miniseries Ahsoka, is also known to have a close connection with the MMA legend. During a conversation with World of Martial Arts Television, the actress revealed her relation to the martial artist, saying that she grew up calling him uncle.

Ahsoka Actress’ Connection to the Legendary Bruce Lee

The new Star Wars series, Ahsoka, released on Disney+ earlier this month, follows Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano investigating an emerging threat against the galaxy. Being a spin-off of Pedro Pascal’s The Mandalorian, the series brings back Dawson’s Ahsoka and Diana Lee Inosanto’s Morgan Elsbeth as well.

Portraying the last remaining Nightsisters of Dathomir, Diana Lee Inosanto, the daughter of the martial arts instructor Dan Inosanto, has expertise in many martial arts forms, including Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do. Not just his hybrid martial art, the actress has also revealed that she has a close connection to the actor himself.

During an interview with World of Martia Arts Television, Lee Inosanto shared that she has been named after the legendary star and used to address him as her uncle. “I was named after him as a little girl, so I wound up calling him Uncle Bruce,” she shared.

She further mentioned that Lee, who worked with his father for decades, was an honorary uncle in the family. Lee Inosanto stated that her father has also been an inspiration for her to pursue martial arts, as he would often show her books and drawings of Filipino warriors along with Filipino women warriors.

Diana Lee Inosanto Talks About Her Star Wars Character

Diana Lee Inosanto made her debut as Morgan Elsbeth in the Disney+ series The Mandalorian and is now starring alongside Rosario Dawson starrer Ahsoka. However, the actress has shared that she did not even know the name of the character until the episode’s premiere.

“Everything was such a complete surprise,” she said before adding, “Listen, I didn’t even know my name was Morgan Elsbeth until the night it aired. Seriously!” During an appearance on Dagobah Dispatch, the actress shared that she believed that she was set to play a Magistrate.

Upon learning that the makers were planning to expand her character beyond The Mandalorian, The Prodigy actress was “over the moon.” She also mentioned that the show creator, Dave Filoni, was always there to help her with her character’s backstory and believes that fans would be pretty happy with the development.

Ahsoka is streaming on Disney+.
