One of the most fascinating elements about the Assassin’s Creed franchise is how with every instalment, Ubisoft takes the player on a journey to experience a completely new and fresh country. And the icing on the cake for gamers who also happen to be fans of the popular Game of Thrones series is how the next game might just be set in the place where a lot of the shooting for the HBO’s show took place.

As many diehard fans would know, much of the shooting for the mentioned series was hosted nowhere else but in Malta, an Island country located in Southern Europe, and a place that has been one of the top tourist destinations ever since, especially for Game of Thrones fans.

Assassin’s Creed: Malta – What Is Ubisoft Up To This Time

With the franchise still up and running well, the studio as expected is always on the lookout for where the next game can be based on. Conversing about the same, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s senior writer, Alain Mercieca, revealed in an interview via TheGamer how he is ready to jump on the ship that sails to Malta anytime-

“Personally there are many, too many to choose from if I’m being honest, As someone who is obsessed with history you could get me excited about a niche group of warriors in a lost society on the island of Malta and I’d be ready to jump into it and make it pop.”

Additionally, while Mercieca might be on board with the idea of taking the franchise to Malta next, he also revealed in the same interview how he feels part of South America deserves to be explored once again. He further mentions how the region was explored partially in Black Flag, but it would be a nice idea to head more towards Brazil this time.

Ubisoft sits on a goldmine with Assassin’s Creed, a franchise that is still filled with untapped potential. However, the studio seems to have missed the chance to modernize the series by implementing the mechanics in a potential Watch Dogs game. Unfortunately, it might be too late for that now.

Why Watch Dogs Could Have Been The Modern Day Assassin’s Creed

The Watch Dogs franchise, still loved by many gamers for the mechanics it introduced, will be regrettably receiving no future sequels as of now as Ubisoft has finally decided to bury the hatchet with the series. It can also be argued that the better path could have been to reintroduce the series as a modern-day AC franchise, giving a huge boost to the popularity of both franchises and keeping the community happy at the same time.

Legion is the latest, and the last, game in the franchise.

What makes this missed opportunity more saddening is how Watch Dogs already had a bridge made for the integration to come along as the games host a large number of easter eggs and secrets revolving around the other franchise by the studio.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available to purchase on Steam.
