With Jackman’s retirement, many fans are speculating who the rightful successor would be for the role. In hindsight, it could be the actor who played his variant in the film and that’s Henry Cavill, or The Cavillrine.

Brandon Sklenar Wants To Give Wolverine Role A Try

While speaking with Extra TV, actor Brandon Sklenar talked about meeting Hugh Jackman while promoting It Ends With Us with costar Blake Lively.

I was like a little kid. I didn’t know he was going to be there until like a couple hours before… I mean he’s one of the reasons I’m an actor and the man’s incredible. Yeah, it’s insane.

When asked if he would play Wolverine, he gave a bit of an explanation and then asserted that he would like to give it a shot. “I feel like he was going to play that role… he might drop playing that role, you know what I mean? He’ll probably play that role till he’s an old man,” he said referring to Jackman.

But yeah, if that came about for sure, I mean those would be big shoes to fill, but I’d love to take a swing at that.

Sklenar as Wolverine will be a major leap in his career and one that would potentially propel him to global stardom. He would also need to be open to criticism and comparison, though, because the comic book character is a legacy attached to Jackman for 24 years.

What’s more exciting is that Jackman himself seems fine with Sklenar being his successor. While doing a promo interview via Screen Rant, the 55-year-old star stated at the end of the clip: “I think we found the next Wolverine.”

Funnily enough, the whole conversation appeared like a skit where Ryan Reynolds, his mother, and Jackman roasted Sklenar for being the love interest of Lively in It Ends With Us.

Henry Cavill’s surprise cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine is a dream come true for many fans. He was famously known as DCEU’s Superman until things got complicated following the reorganization of DC Studios.

Becoming a Wolverine variant may have ignited hopes in fans that he would play the character in future X-Men movies. The actor immediately agreed to star in it as soon as director Shawn Levy offered it to him.

For years, the British actor has been a top favorite fan-cast for the role so it was simply a way to tell the audience that studios listen to them. It remains to be seen what the future holds for Cavill as a Wolverine variant.

Deadpool & Wolverine and It Ends With Us are both showing in theaters worldwide.
