Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista is known for his role in the MCU as Drax the Destroyer. The former wrestler has starred in many hits ever since he debuted as an actor in 2006. He has starred in Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, and Dennis Villeneuve’s Dune, and will be seen in its sequel Dune: Part Two.

While the actor did begin his career with not-so-acclaimed films such as House of the Rising Sun and The Scorpion King 3, the actor seems to be choosy after tasting success in the MCU. When a fan asked if he would star in a Fast and Furious film, Bautista outright rejected it with an insulting response.

Dave Bautista’s Acting Career

Dave Bautista was famous even before he starred as Drax in the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy. He started his career as a bodybuilder and then signed as a wrestler to the World Wrestling Entertainment and was the six-time world heavyweight champion. Known as Batista, he won the Royal Rumble twice and even headlined Wrestlemania.

Dave Bautista finally left WWE in 2019 with eleven championships. He started his acting career in 2006 with a cameo in the comedy Relative Strangers. He featured in Werner Herzog’s crime drama My Son, My Son, What Have You Done and went on to star in the action film Wrong Side of Town. While he headlined a couple of more films, his acting career took off when he starred in the James Gunn-directed Guardians of the Galaxy.

The Marvel film saw Bautista star along with Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel. The film was a surprise blockbuster despite being a relatively unknown IP and earned over $773 million at the global box office. Bautista reprised the role in its sequels Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 and Vol.3 and also appeared in Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Thor: Love and Thunder. He exited the role after Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol.3.

Dave Bautista has since featured in films like the James Bond film Spectre, and Rian Johnson’s sequel to Knives Out, named Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, where he starred with Edward Norton, Daniel Craig, and Kathryn Hahn. He has a starring role in Dennis Villeneuve’s Dune franchise and also headlined M Night Shyamalan’s Knock at the Cabin.

Dave Bautista About The Fast And Furious Franchise

When a fan on X (formerly Twitter) asked Dave Bautista whether he would join his fellow WWE stars Dwayne Johnson and John Cena in the Fast and Furious franchise, he replied with an insulting response. He responded to the tweet with two vomiting emojis and said, “Thank you for your consideration” and also put up a hashtag that read, “I’d rather do good films”.

The Fast and Furious franchise started with a straightforward plot about an FBI officer going undercover to catch a street racer gang who moonlight as robbers. However, since the fifth film of the franchise, the films have graduated to heists, espionage, and superhumans. The gang has even traveled to space in cars, with each installment being more ambitiously ridiculous than the last.

With the films just leaning to their absurdity at this point, it is understandable why Dave Bautista would not want to appear in the films if he wants to be considered a serious actor. However, the franchise has also featured the likes of Charlize Theron, Kurt Russell, Helen Mirren, and Brie Larson. Bautista has also starred in duds such as The Scorpion King 3, the two Escape Plan sequels, and My Spy. While the campy action franchise might not suit the man’s taste now, it would still be fun to see three former WWE stars have a Royal Rumble with cars.
